Why the Came and the Results Collaborative Project
AP US History is a very challenging course. We cover the entirety of United States History. It just simply is not possible to cover all of that in the school year and properly prepare you for the AP Exam the first week of May. So It is imperative that you complete a summer assignment so we can hit the ground running when school starts. As long as it is clear that you have given your best effort, you will receive full credit 300/300. That way this also starts you out with a little bit of an added bonus to your grade.
You will complete your Unit 1 (1491-1607) guide as a summer assignment and begin Unit 2 (1607-1754)

Part 1: Note taking
It is CRITICAL to be able to take good notes to be successful in this class and in college. Throughout this class we will frequently use videos to gather content (it is 2021 after all...) to begin preparing for that please watch the following 2 videos and take HANDWRITTEN notes on the videos.
Conquest and Colonization Lecture
Jamestown Lecture
You should have a set of notes for each lecture. Here is a sample of what your notes should look like
Notice I had 2 different color pens and 2 different color highlighters.
Red pen was the first set of notes
Blue highlighter was a subheading
Orange highlighter is a key term
Blue pen was extra added information after I finished to help me remember the material.
